Hello families! Sorry for the delay in updating the blog. We have been SO busy rockin' in room B4 that I haven't had the chance. We have learned the letters T, F, A and soon B. I hope you have seen the very cute crafts that go along with each letter. In addition- we have already learned the words I, like, see, am, can. Please practice these words each night. In math, we are working on groups of 1, 2, and 3 as well as one to one correspondence when counting. This week we have been learning all about Apples and thanks to Weyland's family, we were able to have a very special apple taste test. There were three choices: red, green, and yellow. As a class, we preferred the yellow apples (Golden Delicious) and the Granny Smith caused us to make really silly faces because it was SO sour. Be sure to come down the hall and check out our chart of favorite apple choices. The kids writing is AMAZING for this point in the year. One thing we have been working really hard on is S-T-R-E-T-C-H-I-N-G our words out so that we can try and pick up the first and last sounds. Speaking of stretching, do you know just how much we LOVE yoga for kids? It is so much fun! I am super proud of all of the kiddos and hope you are as well. They are doing a tremendous job and I appreciate all you do to help them along the way. As always, please let me know if there is anything you need from me!
Hello Families! It has been a super busy week in room B-4. Although it was a short week, we got a great deal accomplished. We have been working very hard on writing as well as counting. Almost every morning, we have a number talk to get our minds going. This allows us to see the different ways each of us think. Can you believe we already have two sight words to learn? Please be working on the words I and am at home every night. On Friday, we counted all of the way to 100 (many of us were out of breath by the end) and we created a beautiful paper mosaic of our names for you to see at curriculum night.
Curriculum Night: September 15 from 6pm-7pm. We will begin in the cafeteria and then move into our classroom. This is a chance for me to give you a more detailed run down of the year as well as answer any questions you may have. Please leave the kids at home if you can :) Upcoming Events: Early Release- September 23 Field Trip to Waller Farm for Pumpkins- October 23 at 1:45pm. We would love to have some parents come with us. If you are interested, please complete the DPS volunteer form as soon as possible. It is right across the street from school. Thank you for everything and as always, let me know if there is anything I can do to help you and your child. We did it friends!! All 24 of us (Miss Rogers and Ms. Greer included) are still alive and loving school! This has been such a great week. We got to learn a new Pete the Cat song in guidance, sing a song with Ms. Morris in Drama, make colors in science with Mrs. Daly, and do a craft with Ms. Flowers! There have been many wonderful books that we read and lots of new friends have been made. The Raccoons have enjoyed free centers (play-dough is a HUGE hit). Today we even went on a nature walk! It got cut short by some thunder. We have an awesome little trail right at our school and got to explore the world around us. We then talked about the colors, shape, and textures of the objects we found. The day wrapped up with a dance party (Friday tradition) as well as math centers. I am so proud of all of you and can't wait to see what is in store for next week. Much Love, Miss Rogers |
